Latifundium

Name given to large tracts of land belonging to a single owner, family or business. It has been part of our rural reality since the colonial period. Experts consider that this land structure is at the root of the current problems of the countryside, resulting in poor land distribution, low wages to rural workers, inefficient land use, and many conflicts. This form of agricultural space organization is common in countries such as Brazil, where there is great social inequality and income distribution.
