Geography

Santa Catarina

It is the smallest and least populous state in the Southern region. It is located in the center of the Southern Region, with the limits of Paraná in the north, Rio Grande do Sul in the south, the Atlantic Ocean in the east and Argentina in the west.

The economy is based on industry, extractivism and livestock. The state is the largest chicken exporter in Brazil. Santa Catarina also has a great tourist potential, attracting visitors from various origins, especially from Sao Paulo and the Silver countries. The main attraction for tourists is the beautiful beaches of Santa Catarina Island, as well as the Camboriú, Laguna, Porto Belo and Itajaí resorts. Another attraction is the famous Oktoberfest, the beer party.

The climate of the state is subtropical humid mesothermal and the four seasons of the year are well defined, unlike in most of the Brazilian territory.
